A QUICK GUIDE TO THE COLOUR FAIRIES
The fairy who looks after the red is called Ruby. She wears a dark red dress, trimmed with silver, has auburn hair and wears sparkly rubies and garnets in her hair.
The fairy who looks after the orange is called Clementine. She wears a dress made from orange peel overlapping in a sort of crinoline style. She has ginger hair and pale skin with freckles and her jewellery is sparkly topaz.
The fairy who looks after the yellow is called Golda. She wears a dress of daffodil yellow, has white blonde hair and carries a bunch of daffodils. Her jewels are diamonds.
The fairy who looks after the green is Emerald. Her dress is in several shades of green all sewn together to make a patchwork but classy effect. She has light brown hair and of course wears emeralds.
The fairy who looks after the blue is Skyla. She wears a dress of dark blue with a light blue net overskirt, has dark brown hair and has turquoises and dark blue beryl jewels.
The fairy who looks after the indigo (which is a colour between dark blue and purple) is called Pansy. She wear a midnight blue dress which changes colour as the light hits it to show flashes of purple. Her hair is very very dark, almost black and she wears pearls.
The fairy who looks after the violet is called Violet of course. She wears a purple dress trimmed with gold and her hair is gypsy black with almost a blue shine to it. She has amethyst jewellery.
They are all very traditional fairies with the usual gossamer wings, bare feet, long flowing hair and very pretty faces. Their clothes are floaty and long.
Tricky and Dicky are two elves. They are identical twins but one is naughty and one is nice. They look like traditional elves but Tricky always has a sly expression on his face.
Oberon and Titania are the King and Queen of the fairies who rule fairyland and can punish anyone caught doing something wrong.
OTHER CHARACTERS WHO APPEAR IN THE BOOKS
Aisling (Ash-leen) the mermaid. She appears first in The Day of the Mermaid and becomes the turquoise mermaid.
They are descended from the family of an ancient Greek goddess who accidentally drowned her human husband and was so upset she turned herself into a mermaid so she could be with him. They live in King Poseidon’s palace at the bottom of the sea and their job is to help sailors if there is a shipwreck. They eat seaweed and fish.
Andromedus. He appears in the Colour Fairies Brush up on their Magic. He is brought in as a teacher by Oberon to instruct the Colour Fairies in magic. He is a very powerful magician.
Odile is one of Ruby’s twins Atlantis, Pansy’s son. He
Fernando is Ruby’s other twin is in Special Edition, the The twins first appear in the Colour Fairies' Children

The messenger of St Valentine. Fires little wish-arrows to try to bring people together. First appears in St Valentine’s Day.
Cynthia, Francisco’s mother
In her role as wicked witch. She first appears in The Spring Ball but eventually gives up evil and becomes a good witch and she and her husband make up with Francisco.
Darien the Wizard
He is Ruby’s father, married to Celeste of the West Wind. He used to be a great wizard and is supposed to be retired now. However Celeste knows he still does a bit of magic as she has seen him sneaking customers into his shed. She doesn’t tell him she knows as she is happy that it keeps him busy.
Dicky the Elf from Book 1 now all grown up and married to Skyla.
Dr Owl appears in Mystery of the Pink to visit Ruby when she is unwell.
Dragons Mr & Mrs Huff and Little Huff appear in Book 3
Pansy and Violet meet the dragons. They live in Dragonard with the other fire-breathing dragons.
Dream Angus appears in St Valentine’s Day He is also called The Sandman and brings good or bad dreams by sprinkling magic sand on the eyes of sleepers.
Duchess Fatima the Fat
She is first mentioned in The Spring Ball
as the bride chosen for Prince Michael by his father, King Gorambert.
Easter Bunny – first appears in How the Easter Bunny got his job.
Elf King first appears in The Magical Fairy Circle.
Prince Gabriel, (brother of Prince Michael) marries Emerald.

Maeve daughter of Prince Michael and Golda
Appears in Special Edition, The Colour Fairies children. Named after Golda’s fairy godmother the Irish warrior fairy Queen Maeve.
Maeve, the Warrior Fairy Queen of Ireland, who is the mother of Oberon and is also Fairy godmother to Golda, whose parents were killed in an accident when she was a baby.
Melody daughter of Violet and Robin
First appears in Special Edition, The Colour Fairies’ children.
Robin was an attendant at Golda and Michael’s runaway wedding, and he also worked for Pearl the Tooth Fairy and made a lot of deliveries to the Colour House of white from the crushed teeth. As a result of this he saw a lot of Violet and grew to like her.
Merlin. He is the son of Clementine and Mikey. He first appears in the Special Edition, he Colour Fairies’ Children.
Prince Michael married to Golda,
Son of pixie King Gorambert
First appears in The Spring Ball.
Mikey the Pixie who supplies the black. He first appears in Book 6 the Colour Fairies meet the Pixies.
He is married to Clementine. She liked Mikey because of his care for his elderly parents and because he never gave up. After a while she realised she loved him and he felt the same so they got married.

Orloff, Francisco’s father was an evil warlock. However he mends his ways and the family are reconciled. First turns up at The Spring Ball.
Skyla and Dicky’s daughter, first appears

Pearl, the Tooth Fairy.
She collects children’s teeth when they fall out and leaves them money. She grinds the teeth into powder to make white. She first appears in the Mystery of the Pink. She lives in a shining white castle but it is very mysterious as no one knows where it is except Hawkwind, the butterfly.

Ralph the Raven

The Greek bishop who started the giving of gifts at Christmas in memory of God’s gift to the world. First appears in The Colours of Christmas.
Santa Claus or Father Christmas as we know him now.
First appears in The Colour Fairies meet the pixies.
He is a gypsy fairy who comes with his wife, Sorcha, to look for their daughter, Xylia, who they left in a buttercup while gathering berries. First appears in the Colour Fairies meet the night sky fairies.
Silvo the silver centaur.
He comes looking for work and takes on the silver when Michael and Golda run off. First appears in Will Golda Become a Princess? Centaurs are descended from a Greek god and goddess one of which could turn into a horse but eventually got stuck half way. Silvo said he didn’t mind being a centaur as it meant he could run very fast.
Who delivers letters in Fairyland. First appears in St Valentine’s Day.
Sorcha, the gypsy,
Wife of Scaramanga, also looking for Xylia and appears first in The Colour Fairies meet the Night Sky Fairies.
Patron saint of lovers
First appears in St Valentine’s Day.
First appears in St Valentine’s Day. Has aspirations to be a colour fairy one day. Offers to put a note for Pearl with her tooth.
Appears in Lost in the Forest. Gnomes are not very pretty creatures with a tendency to be bullies. They are quite rude and are always playing tricks.
Lives on a pond in front of the palace. He is around from the beginning and is a friend to all.
Lives in a grotto in Gnome Wood and is a great friend and ally to all the fairies.
Daughter of Oberon and Titania. Appears in Special Edition – The Colour Fairies’ Children.

Decide on when and where it rains. We don’t really know them yet. They are however mentioned in a couple of stories.
The Ice Queen
She is first mentioned in Book 3 Pansy and Violet meet the dragons. She brings and takes away the snow and ice, helped by Jack Frost.
She orders the seasons and is mentioned first in Book 3.
Bianca and Colleen Dubh –
They are the main moon fairies who make it shine or not. They appear first in ‘the night sky fairies’ story.
Blossom – Assistant moon fairy also first appears in ‘the night sky fairies’
Angel- star fairy. Like the other sky fairies she first appears in ‘night sky fairies’ story.
Aurora – star fairy
Sparkle – star fairy – with Xylia (zyleea) whom she rescued and returns to Sorcha and Scaramanga

A GRYPHON – THIS IS ANOTHER MYTHICAL CREATURE WHICH IS HALF EAGLE AND HALF LION. ANCIENT PEOPLES THOUGHT THAT BECAUSE THE LION WAS KING OF BEASTS AND EAGLE KING OF BIRDS THAT A CREATURE WHICH WAS BOTH WOULD BE DOUBLY POWERFUL.
